Fish Guts
Fish Guts are the wipes, the swipes, the scrapes, smudges, and marks made while mixing paint for fish signs in my studio. I’m perpetually mixing small containers of paint with thin wooden dowels that have been cut from this giant roll I found somewhere. After mixing some paint I wipe, scrape, and basically clean my mixing dowel in preparation for the next color I’ll need. This piece “Fish Guts 001” is made up of all those marks with an additional ten coats of Minwax Polycrylic to give it mirror-like finish.
